Her designs have been featured in Country Living and her fabric collections, distributed by Rowan, work well together or in combination with other modern and vintage fabrics. She also has a large variety of sewing patterns for home dec, clothing, quilts, and incredible handbags. Quote from Amy: "Utility can be Beautiful." DO YOU YO-YO?
Yoyos - the new game in town! These little fabric circles
are quick, easy and addictive. Unlike the metal kind these yoyos come in many shapes and sizes, can be played with in the car, and can be used in a variety of projects. We will show you some ways to make them and use them. Warning - some people become addicted to playing with yoyos.
PRECISION APPLIQUE
Do you recall the “The Racoon” block in our guild’s last raffle quilt? Learn how this beautiful detailed block was made. Discussion of the design process, from concept to pattern. A demonstration of top down appliqué will be presented. Learn when to use it, how to use it, how to do it. Samples will be available. If you have done top down appliqué, please bring your samples.
GOING GREEN
Do you feel guilty about the size of your stash? Resolve to reduce /re-use/ recycle this year. Join this group to discuss ways to do this and share any projects you have that address this goal.
QUILTED SWEATSHIRTS
Have you ever looked at a quilted sweatshirt and wished you could make one? Well, you can! Come and learn some tips and tricks to making beautiful jackets out of sweatshirts. These jackets can be simple or they can be elaborate; it is up to you. We will have a number of samples to show and discuss, but would also like you to bring any examples that you might have.
CHARITY PROJECTS
A discussion of various local and national charities that benefit from our quilting skills. A special emphasis will be on Reach to Recovery totes for breast cancer patients. So, bring a story, a sample, or a 12-½ inch orphan block to share.
TABLE RUNNER PATTERNS
We will share the table runners we have done as guild workshops over the years and include some new ones we’re anxious to try. Bring any patterns or finished runners you have to share with the group.
MAGAZINES OF INTEREST AND INSPIRATION TO QUILTING
We will have a variety of magazines to inspire your creative side. Some may surprise you! Bring any magazines that you have used to help you in designing a project.
MEMORY QUILTS USING PHOTO TRANSFER
Ready to preserve those family treasures into a special memory quilt? Join in an overview of photo transfer – the technique most often incorporated in these projects. Learn tips on the process and discuss current products. Bring a memory quilt you have done to share with the group.
EXPERIENCE BLOCK OF THE MONTH
It's sometimes so hard to think of new ideas for the Block of the Month. Loose Threads has some great suggestions and samples for the BOM. This will be an interactive group, so please bring your creative thoughts and BOM projects to share.
